"Shotgun" is the front passenger seat of an automobile. You must loudly say the word “Shotgun” to stake your claim on it. After you have called it, you have exclusive rights for that ride.
But that’s just the beginning! There are many more rules to learn, such as the importance of having your shoes on when you yell “Shotgun!” and other crucial rules.

Where the hell was this primer when I was in high school?!
I'm notorious for friending shotgun gapers, who'd call shotgun for lunch in, like, 2nd period and call shotgun for Prom in mid-february. I'm pretty sure I exclusively rode b***h (back-center) from age 15 until I was in my early 20s.
