Why women cannot read maps and men lose their keys
Why women cannot read maps and men lose their keys
Researchers discovered that a brain region called the parietal lobe, which governs spatial awareness, is active in both men and women when they admire a "beautiful" picture or photograph. But while neurons on both sides of the brain were stimulated in women, only those in the right hemisphere were activated in men. picked by AutumnLotus 1 year ago

Excuse me... I read maps just fine, and am not too proud to do so. But I have lost my keys on occasion. Maybe I have a man's brain? That would explain why my head is so hairy.

I have no trouble with a map either, thank you.
I also very rarely misplace my keys.

Add me to the female and can read a map category. I only loose my keys when I haven't used them for awhile...

All you girls, check to see if your left ring finger is longer than your left index finger (mine is).
That can explain a lot. This feature means you were exposed to more testosterone when you were in the womb, and both in men and women this translates in differences in sexual and athletic performance.
It also means women who have this feature enjoy the pros of men's ability to manage abstract thought: very useful in spacial awareness.
BUT, you get to have the advantage of enjoying women's strengths in other areas, like multitasking and superior language skills (among many others, of course).

I saw that "trick" on tv the other night - in a segment called 'how to spot the drag queen'. I looked at my hands and gasped "Honey! I'm a dooood. oh noz!"

though, while I am good at maps, direction and orientation - I am horrible with spacial relationships - which wound me up holding my mini-trampoline on the top of my car to get it home when I swore it would fit in the trunk. >.<

I saw a great documentary on the differences between men and women, and it seems nature really has laid down a few basic rules on the genders' parts in life.
Women do some things better than men, and men do others better than women. That is it. Neither is the weaker or stronger sex, we're just 'wired' to perform certain tasks much better than the opposite sex (whichever it may be).

On average, women are better at reading emotions, processing language, teamwork (i.e., equally distributed responsibility in a common goal) and multitasking.
Men are better at spacial orientation, will always have better athletic abilities, prefer to either lead or obey (no middle ground) and generally have a better grasp on abstract thought.

A couple of simple tests revealed:
- a man can fit a pile of different sized items in the trunk of a car much faster and tidier than a woman and he will reach a checkpoint using a compass and a map faster than the average girl;
- a woman can be given 8 different (simple)tasks to perform and finish them with time to spare while a man will perform up to half those tasks in the same period of time. She will also perform better in most written-word tests and the percentage of college graduates is higher among females than among males, mainly because of this.

The differences in performance become clearer once both genders reach puberty; up to then, it’s pretty much leveled.

It’s fair to say, early human women laid down the foundations of social relationships among members of the group, raising healthy children, teaching them to speak and relate to their pears, while men provided protection and most of the high protein food needed to develop our larger brains, since the role of women as caregivers released them to wander off from the core of the group. Neither gender could have survived without the other’s skills – humanity is definitely a team effort.
