Pretty simplistic. Young men armed with nothing but a sword, a cape and silly costume (plus lots of assistants with spears) versus massive, wounded animals with nothing to lose.
Call it the height of machismo, call it savagely inhumane, whatever you call it, it doesn't always end well for the dude in the silly costume. (Nothing really terrible, but there is some blood and it's all about matadors getting shanked and trampled, so click warned.)
