Why does Wade Phillips keep getting head coaching jobs?

And don't answer "because he's Bum Phillips' son."

A lot of truth in that, as you see a fired coach from last year is usually an offensive or defensive coordinator this year (the position they held before they were promoted past their level of competence).

The biggest amusement to me is seeing former Vikings head coach Mike Tice as the offensive line coach of the Bears - a team that the national media says doesn't understand basic blocking schemes.

Does only watching until after the first Green Bay Drive in the 3rd count? That's when I turned off the TV last night.

Oh...but I saw this coming last week. I'm just surprised Jerry waited until this week to do it.

But now that Jason is the new Head Coach, that means the Giants will only win by 40 points instead of 50.

Yeah, they looked pretty poor and the Giants looked superb. Sorry. Kinda.

It surprises me that head coaches can actually do anything that influences the outcome of a game. It always looked like they are like the speaker of the house. They might be able to influence things, but as far as a disastrous or good performance goes, they can only do a little bit of timing: at most postpone it a little or bring it on a bit early. And even that is some kind of voodoo magic: it either works or not.

Check the stats...
Before Jerry: 1 coach
After Jerry: What, 7 now.
They need a strong head coach and Jerry to leave him alone to do his job.

The big rumours I hear are the Bill Cowher is the lead candidate.

But for that to happen, Jerry will have to

1. Fire Jason Garrett
2. Give some sort of authority to Cowher that he hasn't given to a Head Coach since Jimmy (and possibly The Big Tuna).

I assumed Garrett would be an interim coach, so firing him wouldn't be an issue..

What kind of authority do you mean?

When Garrett was hired, he was promised that he would be the next head coach. If you bring in someone else, you'd have to fire Garrett.

As far as authority...Wade was not able to punish the players. He wanted to fine a player earlier this year, but Jerry told him No.

Jerry would have to allow the Coach to make all the decisions on how to treat the players...and Jerry doesn't like that.

I agree with you, what Dallas needs is to clean house, from the basement to the penthouse. Oh and get rid of Romo too please, since he earned his position, he stopped playing like he wanted it.
