At first I thought this was about a name change for people who actually got a sex change. I wondered how much more difficult writing a note would be for a doc that actually did the surgery.

But no...that's not what this is about.
It's about people who want to be the opposite sex, and they previously needed a note from a psychiatrist, pffft...
Isn't it clear enough when a person requests an official name change? How does it benefit society if there's some psychiatrist saying: "yeah, he or she really wants a name change"

So thanks to the ruling, the world got a little less stupid I guess :)

I don't understand why they would need any doctor's note at all. You can legally change your name for any reason, as long as it's not for fraudulent purposes.

I agree with suebe on this one - not to mention name changes are indeed reversible.

There appears to be some text in it (alphabet soup, or something) but it's compressed so much you can't make it out.

This is a move in the right direction. It is ridiculous that individuals can't be who they really are in today's world...
