Not only did I get an A on my Mineralogy mid-term, I got the second highest grade in the class. And now I'm going to brag for a bit, so bear with me.

Of the 20 people in the class, most are seniors and all have had chemistry. I've only had intro for non-majors, no chem at all and have spent the past several years dicking around in the art department. Not to mention, I missed the most important crystallography lecture and ended up having to teach most of the basics to myself.

So, this week's had one major low, but this sort of accomplishment made me realize just how much I have going for me right now. I'm giving Steve the benefit of the doubt for now, but if things don't work out, it's his loss. I'm going places with or without him.

Actually the big smile was last night.

The very last Halloween visitor we had last night was a kid about 3 feet tall. His/her Dad was chaperoning him/her who was encased in a complete, head to toe, back to front Transformer outfit. A fantastic costume but it apparently made moving a bit difficult, because the tyke needed help turning around. I told "it" that he/she had won the best costume of the night and earned an entire fistfull of wrapped goodies.

Fun stuff.

Went to the walk-in clinic this morning 'cuz I don't feel quite right. I was waiting in the lobby with a few other snifflies when a staff member came out and announced that there had been an 'incident', and that the clinic was on lockdown until the perp was apprehended. Turns out someone didn't like the outcome of their doctor's visit and made some threats before exiting. I figured at that point we were in the safest place in town, the perp had left, nobody could get in or out, and there were armed policemen in the building. Yay? By the time I was seen and prescribed, the lockdown was lifted.

So I went to Wally World next door to get my rx filled. While in line the CUTEST baby kept smiling and gesturing at me. I made a total fool of myself smiling and gesturing back.

Between the two, it made for an entertaining morning.

I really think we've found the right puppy at the shelter. We've wanted to adopt a dog for months, but wanted to get the right dog, not just any dog.

There's a really smart black pup that we've seen twice already and I think there's a good chance he'll come home with us on Tuesday. He's got a waggy tail and he behaved well with other animals and he's smart and I think he picks us too so if our visit goes well, he'll have a forever home.

Perdita doing some tidying. I had 2 water dishes in there because when I only had one, she would sit in it when it was dry. I usually just fill it by pouring it through the lid, but if she is sitting in it, the water could get into her book lungs and I didn't want to risk that. So I put another one in. Apparently she wanted some more space.

In the middle of moving:

Edit: She apparently really likes pooping on the side of her house.

Ohh, I see her now that I know what to look for.
Very cool.

I had a tarantula years ago. She shed her skin in one nice piece, we had that for years.
(wonder whatever happened to that..hmm)

I try to keep hers. She managed to rip apart the last one while trying to shove it in her hideout. I had to go in with chopsticks lol. I was able to save the fangs :)
It is fun watching them prepare to molt. They make a little carpet out of web and then roll it into a ball when they are done.

Tarantulas are actually really boring, mine barely moves lol. Redknees are extremely low maintenance, so they are good in that sense. They are also one of the more docile tarantualas too.

I am not sure what is up with mine tonight. She is going crazy and digging a hole in the corner of the tank. I know they are burrowers, but I have had her a few years and she has never tried. So it's odd to me.

Congratulations! Such a special occasion, and you're doing such a great thing by adopting and not buying. Make sure you post some pics when you bring him home!

Today, I picked up 7 cases of donated beer from Summit Brewing. 5 cases of EPA, and 2 cases of Horizon Red.

Thank you Summit Brewing!!!!!

(Did I mention the Summit rep here in Dallas is a hot redhead?)
