I have my work fantasy football live draft on the 30th of this month.
There are twelve teams in the league. I get the second pick.
First pick will probably go to Adrian Peterson.
So, my question to you all is: Who should my pick be? Keep in mind that I get the 2nd, 23rd, and 26th picks.
I'm torn between Tom Brady (my top choice) and Matt Forte, Jones-Drew, and Michael Turner.
Normally, I would have no problem picking Tom Brady first. My team is a 6-point TD for QBs. Here's my problem. If I pick Tom Brady first, I have to wait til pick 23 to get a RB. I figure that by pick 23, all the top-notch RBs will be gone. However, if I go with a RB as pick 2, even if Tom Brady goes before I get to pick him, I still probably have Rodgers, Romo, Warner, and Ryan to pick from. They're not going to score as many points as Brady, but they will make a decent 23rd or 26th pick.
You have to pick a RB with your first pick. Unless the league is setup really strange thats where your majority of points per position are going to come from.
You will get an elite RB with 2nd pick, besides; Brady might even be around still in 23rd because a lot of players pick 2 RBs or an RB and a WR before they get into QBs.
going to have to agree with makri and coldbladed here, the point difference between the best QB and an average one isn't near the point difference between the best RB and an average one

I think of those three RBs it'll be a crap shoot as to which really outperforms the other two. Barring an injury.
If you think your scoring system really is QB centric then you might want to grab a QB first thing and maybe hope some of the newbs feed off of that and save you a few RBs. I just gotta agree with clansman in that the gaps are very different.
There is also the psychological aspect of fantasy football that you can take advantage of. Comment to other players that you know QBs are the way to go in your league. Put down good RBs and WRs to try and inject some doubt in the less experienced players. Hype up supposed Sleeper picks that are "probably worth drafting early".
You know, I'm in two leagues this year. And in one league I picked two RBs first. The other league I did a trial and picked Brees first and went with some good WRs. And I was still able to get starting quality Running Backs. From now on, I'll pick the best QB first and a couple of WRs because points are points and no one is a guarantee.
Yeah.. then again, Peterson has been spotty too, going from monstrous week 1 37 (standard fantasy) point performance to having 33 points total in the following 3 games (37 minus 4 for a couple lost fumbles).
As for Turner, I don't think there's going to be much improvement this week against SF defence.
